OpenSolaris Website Editorial Board
The OpenSolaris Governing Board created the Website Editorial Board at its November 14, 2007 meeting to “approve editorial changes to the content and commentary of the site, but explicitly exclude infrastructure and the underpinnings of the website application.” The Website Editorial Board only reviews changes to the main OpenSolaris community site (www.opensolaris.org, aka opensolaris.org) at this time, and not opensolaris.com or other subdomains of opensolaris.org.
The current members of the board are:
- Rich Teer <rich.teer at rite-group.com>
- Alan Coopersmith <Alan.Coopersmith at Sun.COM>
- Alysson Troffer <Alysson.Troffer at Sun.COM>
- Elijah Wright <elijah.wright at gmail.com>
- Ron De Mena <ron at demena.net>
The business of the board is conducted on the website-discuss mailiing list on opensolaris.org.
Approval Process
DRAFT! This is a discussion draft - not yet reviewed or approved by the board.
For areas of the website that require review and approval by the board before changes are incorporated, a description of the proposed change should be sent to website-discuss. A change will be considered approved after either three board members respond with a +1, or 72 hours pass without any members responding with -1, whichever comes first.
Other (faster) approval mechanisms need to be developed for well-defined types of change. For example, the content of the RSS-fed sections change rapidly without overview. Are there other things that could be manually changed at a similar rate?
Change/review authority for certain parts of the website belongs to or has been delegated to other groups, who may have their own review process or not require a review process. Other OpenSolaris.org subdomains such as cr.opensolaris.org or defect.opensolaris.org are managed by the teams providing each service there, and do not require review by this board.
