Contribute to Belenix
From Genunix
Packaging
Belenix uses spec files approach to package creation. Following contributions are valuable to Belenix
- The pkgbuild repository at pkgbuild.sf.net
This repository is maintained by the opensolaris desktop community members. Belenix team members contribute here and pick specs from here into Belenix. This is a good step towards becoming familiar with spec file authoring, porting and package creation
- Test the spec files at Belenix spec repository http://sourceforge.net/projects/belenix
This is a very valuable contribution towards ensuring Belenix repository is build clean and anyone can create a distro from the sources. Pull the spec files, build the softwares of your interest and test it out. Log bugs if encountered, still better fix the bugs and submit patches.
- Contribute spec files into Belenix spec repository http://sourceforge.net/projects/belenix
This repository is in the works. Should be available for contribution shortly
Feature identification & Customization
Identifying features that are feasible to deliver and are of value to the end user is an ongoing process. Help with the same by posting the on the wiki page Belenix: Nice to have Features
A feature that belongs to an upstream package is likely to be taken up as a incubation step only if there are people forth coming to work on the idea and continue to support as necessary if it is unlikely to go upstream. While the same is true for Belenix specific customizations as well, in this case, the customization is with the clear understanding that this is going to be maintained by Belenix contributors and might be an ongoing effort.
